Submission handed to UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights of migrants

Law and Policy Forum for Social Justice (LAPSOJ) and Pourakhi-Nepal has handed a joint submission to UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights of migrants Mr. Felipe Gonzales Morales on 4th February 2018. The submission entitled “Access to Justice of Nepalese Migrant Workers: Present-Day Problems and Challenges” aims at highlighting the concerns relating to access to justice of migrant workers before the Special Rapporteur.

The submission was prepared on the pretext of Special Rapporteur’s official visit to Nepal and was handed over to him by the representative of LAPSOJ and Pourakhi-Nepal. The submission includes several issues relating to migration and highlights some of the major concerns identified by LAPSOJ and Pourakhi. [The link to full submission] In the meeting, Special Rapporteur was also briefed about the public interest litigation undertaken by LAPSOJ by our team member Barun Ghimire and Anurag Devkota.

The meeting was a part of Special Rapporteur’s visit to Pourakhi-Nepal.
